Contractor Killed in 2017 Friendly-Fire Incident
The Air Force settled a lawsuit for an undisclosed sum that was filed on behalf of the widow of a contractor killed during a friendly fire training incident at the White Sands Missile Range in 2017. Retired Master Sgt. Charles Holbrook, a former tactical air control party Airman, was killed when an inexperienced F-16 student pilot strafed the wrong target during a live fire nighttime training mission, hitting Holbrook in the head and blowing up a nearby civilian rental car.
