John,
Since the pandemic relief dried up, 8 million Americans have fallen into poverty.
Did you see Deborah’s email below? It’s up to us to demand Senate leadership act immediately to protect the most vulnerable—so that more people do not fall into poverty in the months to come.
Donate to CHN today to fight for a pandemic relief package that lifts millions of people out of poverty.
Together, we’re holding Mitch McConnell accountable to the American people. Thank you for all that you do to fight for vulnerable people throughout our country.

--DEBORAH'S EMAIL--
John,
Federal stimulus funds have dried up as a direct result of the failure of Mitch McConnell and Senate leadership to act. The safety net provided to millions of struggling families throughout the United States, including the $600 weekly boost to jobless benefits, and direct cash aid through stimulus payments, has ended—removing any semblance of financial security for far too many vulnerable people and struggling families throughout our country.
Now, hunger is increasing, millions are on the edge of eviction, poverty is on the rise, and financial stressors of the pandemic are only getting worse. Meanwhile, Mitch McConnell and Senate leadership have refused to consider two different desperately needed relief packages sent to them by the House of Representatives. Instead, they are focused solely on trying to force as many conservative judges on the federal bench, including the Supreme Court, as they can.
Take a look at this New York Times headline about the incredible rise in poverty since most federal pandemic relief measures ended, and then donate to CHN to demand the Senate finally act to pass critical pandemic relief legislation!
The New York Times sums up:1
"After an ambitious expansion of the safety net in the spring saved millions of people from poverty, the aid is now largely exhausted and poverty has returned to levels higher than before the coronavirus crisis, two new studies have found. The number of poor people has grown by eight million since May, according to researchers at Columbia University, after falling by four million at the pandemic’s start as a result of a $2 trillion emergency package known as the Cares Act."
In recent weeks, we have called on Senators to focus on the needs of struggling people and families through phone calls and letter writing campaigns. Instead, Senate leadership has chosen to rush through the confirmation process of Donald Trump’s Supreme Court nominee, against the wishes of the majority of the American people.
Together, let's demand the Senate stop millions more from falling into poverty. Donate to CHN today to demand the Senate pass critical COVID-19 relief legislation.
Thank you for all you do to demand accountability from our political leaders and to fight for the needs of the vulnerable, the sick and the poor.
