Remember when Trump was ordered to pay $2 million in damages for illegally using the family “charity” to advance his 2016 political campaign?
Trump is now using the same shady tactics to grow his 2020 campaign war chest. In the wake of Ruth Bader Ginsburg’s death, conservative dark money group The Judicial Crisis Network has been funneling more than $2.2 million in ad buys to support Trump’s new Supreme Court pick, Amy Coney Barrett. But that’s not all -- the Campaign Legal Center, a nonpartisan watchdog group, has filed a complaint with the FEC alleging Trump’s campaign has laundered tens of millions of dollars through companies connected with Trump’s former campaign manager.
This is extremely troubling. Trump and the RNC have “raised” millions more than Biden and the DNC this election, and the Trump campaign has just launched a multi-million dollar digital ad buy designed to smear Joe Biden and misinform voters before the election. At this rate, Trump will bury Biden in illegal dark money long before voters hit the polls.
