John,

The Hill reports that even if Joe Biden’s lead in the national polls doesn’t move in the coming days, the election will ultimately be decided by the party that can most boost its voter turnout.

That’s because in 2016, just about 77,000 collective votes from the states of Pennsylvania, Wisconsin, and Michigan gave Donald Trump the Electoral College -- and this year, The Washington Post has warned that “local officials should prepare against Trump-inspired voter intimidation” that could tip the scales in the GOP’s favor.

Trump and his Republican allies are relying on countless voter suppression tactics to keep their grasp on power this November. But we know that their tactics will prove useless if the American people turn out to vote in overwhelming numbers to elect a much needed wave of progressive leadership -- and the good news is, as FiveThirtyEight reports, Democrats are favored to win the House in November, while a new NBC News map shows that Republicans are increasingly vulnerable in the Senate.

But the Trump campaign has disturbingly called on “every able-bodied man and woman to join ‘Army for Trump’s’ election security operation,” and Republican poll watchers have already started mobilizing at early voting sites. We’re working to give our candidates the funds they need to turn out voters and stand against these GOP voter suppression tactics, but right now, we’re falling short of the funds we need to expand our capacity.
