Things that keep me up at night: When will 2020 be over? How racist is our country really? Where is my back up face mask?



And for good reason.Last week, we polled 506 Black women <[link removed]>. 92 respondents mentioned racism, police brutality and the very real fear of being physically harmed or killed as things that keep them up at night. 



“Not sure if a police officer will break in my house and shoot me like Breonna Taylor or be killed like George Floyd and many more.” 



“Feeling safe in my Black skin in this country” 



“Worrying about my Black son in this racist society.”



These statements <[link removed]>are distressing in normal times. But, living in the middle of a pandemic, it is exhausting and anxiety-riddling.



Yet our #BlackWomenVote poll <[link removed]> did make a few things clear about this high stakes election: the power Black women own and how motivated we are to use that power to protect our democracy. 



Black women are motivated. Our polling cites that 75% of Black women say they are more motivated to vote now than they have ever been. 



Black women are powerful. 64% of voters polled think Black women can make the biggest difference to the outcome of the Presidential Election if they turn out in big numbers.



“The outcome of this election hinges on me and voters like me. When we vote, we make a difference in who wins.”
