We can all remember where we were when we heard about planes crashing into the World Trade Center in New York City. 9/11 was an attack on all of us, and I’m taking a moment to reflect on all that’s changed in those 18 years and how our country has changed for better and for worse.

I mostly want to remember the lives lost that day and how the victims and first responders we lost that day will never return and the hurt this day represents for their loved ones. We will never forget the thousands of lives senselessly lost to the largest terror attack in American history.

It’s days like today that remind me of the responsibility I have to protect and care for the people in this country as an elected official, and it only makes me more determined to make sure the suffering felt on that day never befalls American families ever again.

Solemnly,
Debbie Mucarsel-Powell
