I’m Ben’s finance director, so I wanted to follow up on our note from yesterday regarding the news that for the very first time this year, Burgess Owens outraised our campaign.

We need to catch up, so will you chip in to our emergency response fund to help us raise the $25,000 we need to combat this fundraising haul?

I did some digging into Burgess's FEC report, and here’s what I found:

→ Burgess’s biggest haul came from a fundraiser held by Senator Ted Cruz.

→ He cashed in big checks from big names like House Minority Leader Kevin McCarthy and Ohio Rep. Jim Jordan, as well as former Rep. Mia Love -- who Ben defeated in 2018.

→ The Super PAC working to keep dark money in politics and protect Citizens United gave Burgess thousands of dollars to promote their agenda.

It’s clear that Burgess’s outside backers think they can buy this seat for him. They’re making sure he has the funds to flood the airwaves in the last few days of this campaign to turn the race in his favor, which means we need to work even harder to make sure we re-elect Ben.

If we all step up right now, I know we can match them. So, is there any amount you can chip in to our emergency response fund to help us catch up?
