As Buzzfeed News reports: “President Donald Trump called Sen. Kamala Harris a ‘monster’ twice during an interview Thursday, the morning after she made history as the first Black and Asian American woman to participate in a vice presidential debate.”
This could be seen as just the latest string of insults from Trump’s bullying playbook. In the same interview, he called her “terrible,” “totally unlikeable,” “a communist,” and used his favorite nickname: “Phony Kamala.”
But calling Kamala a “monster?” This isn’t his standard jab -- it’s one he exclusively designates for women and people of color.
USA Today reports that Harris's historic candidacy could galvanize turnout for South Asian voters, exactly what the Democratic party needs to ensure Trump and Pence don’t get another four years in office. But with Trump doubling down on his racist and misogynistic attacks on Harris’s character, it’s imperative that we stand with our next VP. If not, her historic candidacy may never be realized.
