Didn't want you to miss this news: A new public poll of voters in NY-01 shows we are within ONE POINT of defeating my hyperpartisan GOP opponent Lee Zeldin.
Over the past four years, we have witnessed Zeldin align himself with the far-right and demonstrate his fealty to Donald Trump. This polling reflects what we already knew: the more radical Zeldin gets, the more Suffolk County voters are ready to vote him out.
Thanks to you and every person who has stepped up to help us reach voters with my pro-science message, we are within striking distance of Lee Zeldin. Our strategy is working because you and THOUSANDS of others have made it possible for us to get to this point, but closing the gap in the next 17 days depends entirely on our ability to invest strongly in our paid communications strategy.
That means running a smart and targeted TV and digital ads plan, empowering my field team to contact hundreds more voters each day, and continuing to communicate the contrast between myself and Zeldin. And the sooner we can reach voters with my pro-science message, the better.
At this point in the race, over $2 million has poured in from outside special interest groups including the NRCC, CLF, AAN, and more to prop up Trump's most cherished ally in the House. They're investing heavily because they know I can defeat Zeldin in November.
The results of this race will come down to these final days, and we need to make sure every voter we're counting on returns their absentee ballot or turns out at the polls to vote in person. I have relied on you for so long now, but to ensure we flip NY-01 red to blue, I'll need you with me these last few days.
After my team and I viewed the polling results, we reviewed our strategy and our budget to see where and how much more we can focus our resources. If we can raise $145,000 over the next few days, we'll be in a strong position to out-communicate Lee Zeldin and his big donors.
We cannot allow Zeldin to get further ahead and make it harder for us to win. And falling short right now is not an option.
