On Thursday I appointed Rebeca Huddle to the Texas Supreme Court.
Rebeca is a first generation American and El Paso native with a sharp legal mind who brings an extensive and accomplished record to the court.
I know Rebeca will faithfully defend the Constitution and work hard for the people of Texas.

TEA, TDEM ANNOUNCE COVID-19 RAPID TESTING PILOT PROGRAM

This week, the State of Texas launched the COVID-19 Rapid Testing Pilot Program for Texas school systems.
Through this program, the Texas Division of Emergency Management (TDEM) will provide schools with rapid tests for students, teachers, and staff who choose to participate to help mitigate the spread of the virus.
Interested public and private schools will be able to apply for this program through the Texas Education Agency (TEA) no later than Wednesday, October 28th.
HHSC TO RECEIVE MORE THAN $20 MILLION IN ADDITIONAL FEDERAL FUNDING FOR DISASTER CRISIS COUNSELING SERVICES

The Texas Health and Human Services Commission (HHSC) will receive more than $20 million in additional federal funding for mental health support services for Texans impacted by COVID-19.
I thank our federal partners at the Federal Emergency Management Agency (FEMA) for their continued support and for providing this crucial funding for our state's crisis counseling services.

SURGING ADDITIONAL MEDICAL PERSONNEL, PPE TO SUPPORT HOSPITALS IN 3 REGIONS ACROSS THE STATE

The State of Texas is surging medical personnel, medical supplies, and additional personal protective equipment (PPE) to El Paso

, Lubbock
[link removed]
, and Amarillo

to mitigate the spread of COVID-19.
As these regions see an uptick in COVID-19 hospitalizations, the State of Texas will continue to provide support to hospitals to help these communities care for patients and contain the virus.
DALLAS HOMICIDES ARE ON TRACK TO SURPASS LAST YEAR'S RECORD-BREAKING RATE

Dallas homicides are on track to surpass last year's record- breaking rate, and yet Dallas has continually cut police funding that is needed to deal with violent crimes like this.

In addition to her distinguished legal career, Judge Barrett is a woman of immense moral character.
I urge all Senators to support her swift confirmation.
