Have you seen the headlines? From POLITICO [[link removed]] : "Trump campaign ready to unleash thousands of poll watchers on Election Day"

Every American should be able to vote safely, securely, and, most importantly, free of intimidation. But President Trump is actively promoting the opposite, John. His campaign has been recruiting “poll watchers” to join “Trump's Army.” This comes on the heels of Trump's national praise of The Proud Boys, a heavily armed, white supremacist group, telling them to "stand by" for his call.

Let's be clear, Trump's recruitment of so-called "poll watchers" is a call for armed voter intimidation.

Voter intimidation is against the law. And armed voter intimidation is not just undemocratic; it's deadly. That's why Brady is speaking out and demanding [[link removed]] that state and local officials work immediately this election cycle to designate polling places as gun-free zones. John, we need to push back hard against "Trump's Army" and any attempts to suppress our votes and threaten our safety.

Can you sign our petition right now demanding all polling places be made gun-free zones? [[link removed]?]

With you on our side, we won't let armed citizens interfere with our elections and suppress the votes of our fellow Americans. [[link removed]?] [link removed]

Brady Legal Demands Justice Against Gun Retailer Cabela's

In November 2016, a 19-year-old shot and killed a college athlete and teen, Anthony King. Brady Legal alleges that gun retailer Cabela’s negligently sold the shooter ammunition despite having known or having reason to believe that he was under 21 years of age, which is illegal under federal and New York state law.

We were delivered the news this past week when the Supreme Court of New York held that an unparalleled gun industry protection, the Protection of Lawful Commerce in Arms Act [[link removed]] (PLCAA), does not stop negligence claims against an ammunition seller like Cabela’s. Too often, PLCAA blocks victims of gun violence from having their day in court. This ruling is our second win against PLCCA just this past month. Brady Legal is proud to have helped secure this step towards justice [[link removed]] .

"Red, Blue, and Brady" Podcast Listed as a Finalist for a Shorty Social Good Award

This week, Brady's podcast series on racial justice was shortlisted as a finalist for the Shorty Social Good Award [[link removed]] ! Our series does a deep dive on the intersection of gun violence prevention and racial justice, featuring advocates, activists, academics, politicians, and survivors to speak on the issue. "Red, Blue, and Brady" is the first podcast devoted solely to gun violence prevention, and we have now made it the first podcast devoted to gun violence prevention and racial justice.

Brady is thrilled to have our podcast listed as a finalist among other well-known podcasts by CNN, GoFundMe, HBO, and more. Listen to a few of our favorite episodes from our Shorty-nominated racial justice series:

If They'd Just Listen [[link removed]]
In the first racial justice podcast episode, we’re joined by Aalayah Eastmond, a Team ENOUGH executive council member, and Tatiana Washington, a member of March For Our Lives and executive director of 50 Miles More, to discuss allyship, racism, and the roles that young women of color play in the gun violence prevention movement.

The World Turned Upside Down [[link removed]]
JJ and Kelly are joined by Dr. Saul Cornell of Fordham University. Together, they speak about the ways the modern gun debate intersects with the history of race relations in America, history of the Second Amendment, and more.

On the Front Lines [[link removed]]
Areas of Washington, D.C., experience high rates of gun violence. Before the police arrive, the Alliance of Concerned Men and Women, a nonprofit organization that focuses on saving the lives of at-risk youth and adults, is on the scene. To discuss the Alliance's focus on community intervention work as means to reduce gun violence, we're joined by Clayton Rosenberg, chief of staff.

GUN VIOLENCE PREVENTION HERO

This week, the Senate held hearings on the Supreme Court nomination of NRA-backed Judge Amy Coney Barrett [[link removed]] . While Judge Barrett disturbingly refused to answer all questions regarding the Second Amendment and gun violence, we’re thankful for Sen. Richard Blumenthal (CT) and Sen. Dick Durbin (IL) for putting gun violence prevention front and center.

Sen. Durbin highlighted gun violence [[link removed]] in his home state of Illinois, connecting illegal firearms that are trafficked across state lines to wreak havoc in communities like Chicago. Sen. Blumenthal underscored Barrett’s extreme views on the Second Amendment [[link removed]] , warning that she would be an “activist judge” who would “strike down common-sense gun safety laws” across the country. Sen. Blumenthal also entered into official record Brady’s letter [[link removed]] urging Senate leadership to protect our safety from gun violence and #BlockBarrett. The letter was signed by more than 30 gun violence prevention organizations.
