I thought it couldn’t get worse than Trump’s debate performance last month. But then I watched his town hall event last night… He went off the rails, promoting outlandish conspiracy theories about Osama bin Laden and Seal Team 6. Trump said QAnon conspiracy theorists are “people who love our country,” and said he even agrees with them in some cases. Sound familiar? My own re-election opponent has shared QAnon propaganda herself.
On top of the usual hysterics, things took a more dangerous turn when the host lobbed Trump a softball question about QAnon and right-wing extremism. But once again, he swung and missed in spectacular fashion. It shouldn’t be this hard to denounce white supremacy and crackpot conspiracies. Then again, Trump knows better than to anger his core base of supporters… Let’s be clear — QAnon is a dangerous cult that begets extremist violence. Anyone sympathizing with their screwball worldview is unfit to serve. Thanks, Eric |
