We are closer now than we have ever been towards ending the war in Yemen:
Right now, Congress is preparing to pass the 2020 defense budget. There are things that I don’t love about that budget, but right now, we have to direct all of our attention to one critical priority — ensuring my amendment to end support for the Saudi-led coalition is included.
Alongside Bernie Sanders, I’m leading a bipartisan coalition to include an amendment that would “prohibit support to and participation in the Saudi-led coalition military operations against the Houthis in Yemen.” This would be a massive step towards forcing Saudi Arabia into ending this bloody conflict.
Will you co-sign my amendment, and demand its inclusion in the 2020 defense bill?
The world is watching what we do. A United Nations commission has already condemned our lack of action and complicity in this growing human rights crisis. Hundreds of thousands of people are at risk of starvation, have no access to medical supplies, and are being held hostage by this conflict.
We can end that. We can aspire to fulfill the world leadership role that the United States has had in the past, and can continue to fulfill in the future. With your help, we can force Trump to uphold the ideals of international peace, protection of human rights, and global stability.
It all starts with your action, and our courage to stand up for what’s right.
In solidarity,
Ro Khanna
