Team,
Last month, the Trump administration secretly cancelled the Medical Deferred Action Program, eliminating protections for immigrants — including children — who are receiving life-saving medical care in the United States.
The decision to give gravely ill children and their families 33 days to leave the country or face deportation is both appalling and heartless. We must hold this administration accountable.
Today, during an Oversight Committee hearing, I heard testimony from Maria Isabel Bueso and Jonathon Sanchez, both of whom are receiving critical medical treatment and have been threatened with deportation following this cruel policy shift.
Let me be clear: deporting immigrants with severe medical conditions would be a death sentence. This is just the latest act of inhumanity from this administration’s campaign of terror targeting our immigrant communities; for the occupant of the White House, the cruelty is the point.
To add insult to injury, the Trump administration tried to make this policy change in secret. There was no public announcement, no opportunity to hear from those who would be most impacted. That is shameful.
Add your name right now to join me in condemning this appalling policy.
Thank you for making your voice heard and standing with our immigrant communities.
In Solidarity,
Ayanna Pressley
