Hi, John! Didn't want you to miss out on this one: in addition to being endorsed by Newsday two nights ago, Nancy was just interviewed by Newsweek on her pro-science run for Congress.
Newsweek notes that right now, fewer than 10 percent of congressional representatives are people who worked in science, technology, engineering and mathematics fields (STEM) before serving as elected officials.
There's no question that we're living in a time when science and facts matter more than ever before. Newsweek reported, "With the Trump administration's bungled and sluggish response to coronavirus, including the president downplaying the virus' severity that has killed more than 210,000 Americans, [President of 314 Action Shaughnessy] Naughton said now is all the more reason for STEM and medical professionals to throw their hats into the ring."

Recently, 314 Action released their Congressional Scorecard for Lee Zeldin. He earned a 13% after voting to eliminate health care protections for people with pre-existing conditions, against lowering prescription drug costs for every American, against a disaster relief bill to help those affected by Hurricane Harvey, to make $7 billion in cuts from the Children’s Health Insurance Program (CHIP), and to support an amendment that would stop our leaders from considering the known impacts of a changing climate when writing new policies.
Nancy knows that for many folks across Suffolk County and the country, it might not always be clear how the decisions our leaders in Washington make impact our daily lives. But as Nancy said, "The pandemic has, I think, shown people how important it is who we elect, that elections really matter, and they matter to our everyday lives."
