John, the folks who make history rarely set up with that goal in mind.
Cori started fighting for change because things weren’t right. As a mother working for a daycare, she realized that her wage wasn’t even enough to send her own kids to the daycare she worked at. That doesn’t sound right.
As a nurse, she saw patients utterly overwhelmed by a private insurance system that was opaque, unfair, and designed to prioritize those with wealth – as if their lives were inherently more valuable. That doesn’t sound right.
As an activist, she saw a system that treated Black and Brown lives as expendable, and a government that treated those who spoke out against injustice as a greater threat than those practicing the injustice itself. That doesn’t sound right.

Our goal has never been to make history, but in the process of fighting for a better world, we just might – by electing the first Black woman & nurse to Congress in Missouri’s history, and the first Activist-Fighter for Black lives in the nation.
Onward,
Team Cori
