Hi Friend, The election was JUST called and our campaign has officially begun. Are you ready? This is it. This is what we’ve been working towards. Canadians want decisive climate action, innovative social programs and a renewed democracy, and we’re the only party that can deliver it. We have less than two months to bring a team of Green MPs to Ottawa. I know we can do this. We’ve never been stronger.
It’s been a record-breaking summer. And we need to keep up the momentum. What we’ve learned from our May victory In May, our historic win in Nanaimo-Ladysmith changed everything in Ottawa. It sent a signal across Canada that voters care about the climate crisis. It forced the other parties to scramble and cobble together their own inadequate climate plans. Just days after Paul Manly’s victory, Ottawa declared a national climate emergency. Imagine what strides Canada would take if we elected an entire team of Greens! How we’ll win in October If there’s anything I’ve learned on this campaign, it’s the strength and determination of our supporters. In places like Central Nova, Nova Scotia, I’ve seen how the smallest campaigns can grow their numbers from a handful of volunteers to packed event rooms. In Beauséjour, N.B. or Guelph, Ontario, I’ve seen armies of volunteers hit the pavement to talk with their neighbours. In Longueuil-Saint-Hubert, Quebec and Esquimalt-Saanich-Sooke, B.C., I’ve seen high profile politicians leave their parties to join the Green wave. I wish you could see the enthusiasm and momentum that I get to witness every day on the campaign trail. Something truly special is happening across the country, as Canadians stand up to demand a better future. Where you come in This win will take all of us, giving what we can, when we can. Have you ordered a lawn sign? Have you volunteered for your local riding? Have you made phone calls into your community or gone out to knock on doors? Have you donated to our campaign? Because the only way we win, the only way we can cut through decades of climate inaction and turn Canada into a global climate leader, is if everyone reading this raises their hand, stands up and gets involved. There’s something Elizabeth May likes to say after a long day that I want to share with you, “We all need to shrink our environmental footprint. That’s important. But what’s equally important is growing our political footprint.” See you on the campaign trail, Greens, Jonathan Dickie |
