Today, on the 18th anniversary of 9/11, while the state was honoring first responders, Republicans called a deceptive, surprise override of my budget veto:

Knowing that they didn't have the votes they needed to override my veto fairly, Republicans held a surprise vote with barely half of House members present and that's because they lied to the Democratic members and told them there would not be a vote.

Their ideas haven't worked, their bullying hasn't worked, their bribes haven't worked.

Today, they cheated the people of North Carolina.

It is a new low, all to avoid providing teachers with fair pay and to steal healthcare from 500,000 people who desperately need it.

This was an assault on our democracy and Republican legislators will have to answer to the people of North Carolina. Add your name to stand with me against their bribes and lies.
