Dear John,
We are excited to let you know about our new Empower to Plan crowdfunding
project with You Before Two [3].
You Before Two is a small charity that provides relationships and sex
education (RSE) to young people in some of the most deprived parts of
Nottinghamshire, where teenage pregnancy rates are still high. With
previous Empower to Plan support, You Before Two was able to launch its
ambitious programme of workshops to groups of girls, and later, boys,
teaching them about consent, healthy relationships, contraception, and the
relationship between population growth and its impact upon the planet.
Unfortunately, the coronavirus outbreak has impacted You Before Two's
income and ability to deliver workshops. At the beginning of the pandemic,
the charity suffered a significant loss of expected funding. This funding
is desperately needed to allow You Before Two to continue to cover its
costs and move forward with its plan to deliver workshops to 180 children
over the coming year.
The impact of the pandemic and the move to online learning has also
highlighted the need for a better developed website and an online resource
area for teachers and children to access. The resources will also be useful
for teachers nationwide, who are preparing their curriculums in advance of
the new statutory requirement for RSE lessons in secondary schools in
England.
With your help, You Before Two will be able to continue to help empower
some of the UK's most impoverished teens, train two facilitators, and
launch a brand new website and resource area.
