Dear John??

Congress is currently in recess for the October district work period.? During
these times, members of Congress go back to their districts to meet with
constituents. About the time you will be reading this, I will be wrapping up
this week by speaking to the Cullman Area Chamber of Commerce.? Below are some
photos from this weeks work period.
We visited the Showa plant in Fayette this week.? Showa is making
approximately 600 thousand latex gloves everday to supply the medical field
around America.? They are also decreasing our dependency?on Chinese made
medical supplies.? This is something I have been pushing for because we have
become too reliant on Chinese made products. Wednesday, I was in Muscle Shoals
to announce an Economic Development Assistance grant for Northwest Alabama.?
The almost $1 million investment will be distributed to Colbert, Franklin,
Winston, Marion and Lauderdale Counties to help businessed impacted by COVID-19.
We also visted the International Fertilizer Development Center in Muscle
Shoals.? This facility, located right here in the 4th District, is helping
people around the world to grow better crops and to feed their communities.

SCOTUS Update

The confirmation hearings for Supreme Court nominee Amy Coney Barrett have
officially started. This past Monday was her first day before the Senate
Judiciary Committee, and a few things were made clear. Senate Democrats are not
seriously questioning Judge Barrett on her credentials, instead they have
decided to attack her character and her beliefs. I am disappointed to see this
unfold on the national stage, but I think Judge Barrett stood strong and did
well during this first week of hearings. The Senate Judiciary Committee is set
to vote on her nomination on October 22nd.

While I do not have a vote in her confirmation process, I do support her
fully and I know she will defend life, protect the Constitution, and uphold our
freedoms when she is officially sworn in as an Associate Justice on the Supreme
Court.

China

This entire pandemic can be traced back to Wuhan, China, where it originated
and was let loose on the world. It is evident that China did virtually nothing
to stop the global spread of this virus, and they have withheld information
about it since we first learned what COVID-19 was. The simple fact of the
matter is that China needs to be held accountable for their actions on the
world stage, and I believe President Trump has done a great job in doing this.

He answered my call to move medical manufacturing back to the U.S

. and out of China, and he has taken hard stances on trade that no other
administration has ever done. China is afraid of this administration, and I am
proud to join this fight in taking China head on. There is more work to be
done, but holding China accountable is the first and most important step.

Nobel Prize

On October 9th, the World Food Program was awarded the Nobel Peace Prize. I
am excited and happy for my good friend David Beasley who is the Executive
Director, as well as his entire team. Feeding millions of people across the
globe is hard and dangerous work, and this honor is well deserved. I was proud
to sponsor a bipartisan resolution to the House of Representatives honoring WFP
for receiving this award, because fighting to feed the world is a remarkable
way to honor and protect vulnerable and innocent lives.???????

I hope you have a great weekend.? I'm sure most of you will be like me and
will be checking in on football.? I pray that Coach Saban continues to have no
symptoms from his COVID diagnosis and Alabama beats Georgia and Auburn beats
South Carolina.?Roll Tide and War Eagle!

?

???????????Sincerely,
