THIS WEEK IN ATTACKS

The NRCC is at it again: this time, they’re running transphobic TV ads attacking Gina Ortiz Jones for supporting trans service members and falsely claiming she’d close military bases.

The Detroit Free Press examined a new homophobic ad that claims that Jon Hoadley is “creepy” and a “pedophile” and called it misleading and “Mostly False.”

San Diego mayoral candidate Todd Gloria is facing a false smear campaign from extremists online and started receiving death threats last week. Together with Equality California, we’re calling on his opponent to renounce these horrific attacks. He also participated in his first candidate forum – you can watch the debate here!

Former Victory Fund candidate John Blair came to current endorsed candidate Roger Montoya’s defense this week, calling out the New Mexico GOP for blowing homophobic dog-whistles against Roger in his race for the state house.

 

RAINBOW WAVE

In 2020, we can elect a record number of trans, gender non-conforming and two-spirit candidates to public office. Out trans candidates Stephanie Byers, running for the Kansas state House, Jessica Katzenmeyer, running for the Wisconsin Assembly, and Colorado state Representative Brianna Titone, running for reelection, joined Senior Political Director Sean Meloy to talk about their paths to victory, facing transphobic attacks and more. The Missoulian has endorsed Bryce Bennett’s campaign for Montana Secretary of State, saying he “has every quality a voter could ask for in a capable, effective Secretary of State.”
