“When New Yorkers cast their ballots for president, they won’t just be picking a candidate. They’ll also be voting on whether state government will continue on a progressive trajectory, or backslide into austerity, centrism, and political corruption. That’s because the Working Families Party’s survival is on the ballot this year.”
(The Nation, 10/8/20)
Dear John:
Our mighty volunteer team has grown to 286 people, and together we’ve made tens of thousands of phone calls around the country to help win the White House and the Senate!
But New York voters have an important job locally this election, too -- voting on the Working Families Party (WFP) line to build and protect progressive power in our state.
Earlier this year, Governor Cuomo changed the requirements for parties to gain access to the ballot, more than doubling the number of votes that a party needs to get on its ballot line to stay on the ballot in future years.
As The Nation reports: “By all accounts, the move was Cuomo’s payback for the WFP’s years of success in moving New York politics in a more progressive direction.”
Our mission: Contact New Yorkers who are already voting for Joe Biden and Kamala Harris and make sure they do so on the WFP line. On Sunday evening, Brad is joining the WFP for a training on reaching out to your friends and family to make sure they vote on the WFP line.
And mark your calendars for our other upcoming volunteer events:
