Coronavirus: Greater Manchester is in Tier 2 – High Alert

The Government has introduced a 3-tier Coronavirus set of rules for England – Medium, High and Very High.

Oldham is in the High Tier.

Full details of these rules can be found here.
Information for parents/guardians
If you’re dropping off or collecting your child or children from school or nursery please remember not to congregate with other parents at the school gate.

In addition to this, please don't organise play dates for your children. Schools are COVID-secure but there’s no guarantee a home is. Keep you and your children safe.

Household transmission
Coronavirus spreads when you meet people inside their houses or in other indoor spaces so it’s really important that you don’t do this. It is spreading person to person and when we see our loved ones we’re more likely to ignore the two metre rule.

Following the #HandsFaceSpace guidelines will help us avoid taking Coronavirus home to our families and support bubbles. Protect your loved ones and follow the guidance.

Halloween
Lift your spirits, and everyone else's, by downloading some of our pumpkin colouring sheets or display your own creations in your windows this October. Then share them with us on social media. Download your templates here
Stay safe during Bonfire season
Greater Manchester Fire and Rescue Service (GMFRS) is urging everyone to do their bit this Autumn and stay safe, as the Halloween and Bonfire season gets underway.

With more people expected to celebrate at home, firefighters are calling on people to take extra care and remind themselves of the Halloween, Bonfire and firework safety advice that is available at Safe4Autumn.com.

Struggling to deal with the restrictions?
2020 has not really been what any of us expected when we brought the New Year in back in January. We've had months of restrictions and guidelines thrown at us and they can be very difficult to live with at times. So, it is no wonder that there has been an increase in people talking to their GPs with concerns regarding their mental health recently.

The impact of Coronavirus on everyone's lives has been massive and addressing any mental health concerns you may have is really important; please don't struggle in silence. You can speak to your GP or call the NHS on 111 if it’s out of hours. You can also self-refer to some services, to find out more click here. Take care.

Bereavement support
If you, or someone you know, has lost a loved one support is available. For a list of services and organisations that can help during this difficult time, click here
Flu
Keep well this winter by making sure you have your flu vaccination. For a full list of eligible groups click here. If you are eligible you should contact your GP, if they haven't already contacted you, speak to your local pharmacy or your midwife if you are pregnant.
#WeAreOldham
Children from St Anne’s Primary School sent some lovely messages and pictures to residents in Oldham care homes for Grandparents' Day last Sunday. They helped bring a smile to the faces of Oldham’s elderly people. We are Oldham and we're in this together.
Coronavirus testing
If you have symptoms of Coronavirus and need to get a test, we have testing centres open across the borough seven days a week. You must, however, book an appointment before you go. This appointment can only be booked through the government website here
Let's Walk Fest 2020
No matter whether you’re a stroller, roamer, shuffler, moocher or a marcher the Let’s Walk Fest has something for you. The Fest fortnight, running until the Sunday 25 October, is an opportunity to set yourself (or your family) a walking goal and discover the simple joys and benefits of walking with an option to raise money for local causes too.

It’s simple, just sign up and submit your activity at gmwalking.co.uk/festival

Buttercup Corner Nursery
Local Oldham nursery Buttercup Corner, Chadderton, has been used as a positive case study by the Greater Manchester Combined Authority on how early years settings have adapted to ensure young children’s mental health is being supported during Covid. Well done to everyone involved!
