John, see through the eyes of a refugee child

Dear John,

Did you know that almost 3.7 million refugee children are currently out of school, and that COVID-19 is only making the situation worse? At UNHCR, we know the importance of education, which is why we’ve been working hard to get children back in the classroom. Just look what happens when children are given the opportunity to study, follow their passion and reach their full potential.

Mo Salah celebrates the power of education

Protecting people across the planet

Football superstar and UNHCR Goodwill Ambassador Mo Salah has been hearing how the internet has transformed classrooms for refugee children. See how Mo has inspired young people like Fatna to play women’s football, and how they are inspiring him in return.

Refugees are giving back

Refugee artist with big dreams

He’s only 14, but Ferdavs has already had his first art exhibition and hopes to be as famous as Picasso one day. Originally from Afghanistan, Ferdavs is now thriving in the safety of Moscow, Russia, where he can go to school and work on his beautiful art.

You won’t believe Ferdavs’talent!
A crisis within a crisis

Through the eyes of a child

Murad has been taking pictures since he was eight, documenting his life as a Syrian refugee living in Iraq. He’s perfecting his technique so that one day he can become a professional photographer and help other refugees by telling their stories through pictures.

Update from Moria: one month on

In the four weeks since fires destroyed Moria’s asylum centre in Lesvos and left thousands homeless, we’ve been busy. With your support, we’ve provided shelter for nearly 8,000 people, along with essential items like sleeping mats, solar lamps and face masks. But, with winter approaching, we’re urging the Greek authorities to provide long-term solutions for families who have already been through so much.

From everybody here at UNHCR, thanks for supporting our work and reading our stories. We hope you enjoy them as much as we do!
