Nobel Prize 2020: Meet the women making history   


Since its establishment in 1895, the #NobelPrize has been awarded to less than 60 women. Though we're still a long way from gender equality, this year's awards marked a milestone: Emmanuelle Charpentier and Jennifer Doudna jointly won the Chemistry prize, making it the only Chemistry Nobel ever to be jointly won by two women. Joining them were Andrea Ghez for physics (shared prize) and Louise Gluck for literature. Share words of encouragement on social media: download quote cards here.

UN Women in Turkey wins Silver Effie Award


UN Women in Turkey has been awarded the prestigious Silver Effie Award for their "Fireflies – Light the Dark" campaign, launched last year as part of the annual global campaign 16 Days of Activism against Gender-based Violence. The campaign called on the public to mark the places where they felt unsafe with a firefly and enabled municipalities in Turkey to engage with its citizens to make these spaces safer. Read more »
