Since the start of the pandemic, Governor Carney has focused on the dual objectives of a healthy community and a strong economy. He knows it can’t be either or – we have to have both.
“We must rebuild an economy that’s better prepared for the future. By focusing on support for Delaware’s hardest hit businesses, especially small businesses, investing in 21st century infrastructure, including broadband, and building a world-class workforce, Delaware will emerge from these challenges stronger than before.”
— Governor John Carney
That’s why Governor Carney will remain focused on bringing new jobs to Delaware and supporting the business owners rooted in our state.
In his first term, Governor Carney worked with the General Assembly to pass the largest-ever infrastructure program in the state - building new schools, modernizing roads and bridges, expanding high-speed broadband, funding clean water infrastructure, and preserving open space.
Governor Carney knows small businesses and their workers are the backbone of our economy. That’s why he launched a $150 million grant program - DE Relief - to provide real assistance to help Delaware small businesses during this challenging time.
Governor Carney also expanded the Port of Wilmington and brought jobs to Delaware families. In his second term, Governor Carney will remain focused on bringing more of these good-paying jobs to our state.
