There are only 17 days until Election Day.
In the last month, Trump has endangered the American public by knowingly spreading COVID-19 and downplaying its severity for his own personal gain. As despicable as this is, we shouldn’t even be surprised. Trump’s track record is filled with atrocities.
We’d like to remind you of when Trump took away Obama-era protections for transgender students that allowed them to use facilities corresponding with their gender identity. Or when he signed a directive to keep transgender people from joining the military.
We also remember the effect his hate speech has on his supporters, who certainly heard the anti-Semitic rhetoric emanating from his campaign in 2016. In the six months after he was elected, the Anti-Defamation League reported an 86 percent spike in anti-Semitic attacks.
Think back on all the times Trump has enabled white supremacy to thrive under his watch, like when he noted that there were “very fine people on both sides” of the violent white supremacist rally in Charlottesville. Recall his inhumane treatment of immigrants detained by ICE at the Mexican border, where doctors perform unnecessary mass hysterectomies, people are left without food, water, or medication, and children are separated from their families.
If Trump has another four years in power, we’ll see his pile of atrocities reach unfathomable heights. ASPIRE is working day and night to make sure that doesn’t happen by supporting progressive candidates nationwide and expanding AAPI presence in politics. To do that, we need money -- and right now, we’re $3,528 short of where we need to be to increase our campaign efforts and regain the ground we’re losing to the Republican Party.
We wouldn’t ask for your help closing the gap if we didn’t think this outreach effort was absolutely critical. But because you know the stakes, and so many others don’t, we need your help -- and we need it now.
