BREAKING:
The Washington Post reports the sad reality that in the United States bulletproof backpacks are a big back-to-school item in 2019

We cannot accept bulletproof school supplies as a fact of life, John.

Students everywhere are starting another school year, and in Washington State we're grateful that our classrooms are just a little bit safer than they were the year before. When the Alliance helped pass I-1639 with the support of people like you, we secured a lifesaving blueprint for protecting our schools and communities: New safe storage provisions and enhanced requirements for purchasing semi-automatic assault rifles are keeping deadly weapons out of dangerous hands – because it shouldn't be easier to buy a weapon of war than cough syrup.

But our progress is not safe. Right this minute the gun lobby is suing to strike I-1639 down in court – and if we don't act fast, their guns-everywhere agenda will undo all the progress we've made to protect students across Washington State.

The Alliance is doing everything we can to defend this lifesaving law, but we're coming up on a major fundraising deadline at midnight and need grassroots supporters like you, John, with us in this fight:

Donate $5 today to protect I-1639 from the gun lobby's attacks and save lives from gun violence. Students across Washington State and the nation cannot afford the gun lobby winning.

Students and communities in Washington State are safer this year. But if we stop pushing forward for even a second, the gun lobby will send us right back to where we started. Thank you for keeping our vital gun safety movement moving forward.
