Greta joined us today for her first extended broadcast interview in the United States. She took a two-week journey on a zero-emissions sailboat to New York City to join the global climate strike on September 20 and address the U.N. Climate Action Summit on September 23.

When Greta was 8 or 9, she learned about climate change, studying the issue extensively. The world's lack of concern about the climate crisis depressed her. Greta stopped speaking, stopped eating.
"Then I started to feel better because I saw that there are actually things you can do. I shouldn’t be sitting here doing nothing, wasting my time, when I can actually have an impact. So I became a climate activist," Greta said on Democracy Now!
