The truth is, our lead in the polls has deteriorated. GOP dark money groups with ties to Mitch McConnell have spent nearly $1 million to defeat me and elect my right-wing extremist opponent. I have no doubt that even more outside money is coming — especially as the public polls show this election getting closer than ever.
To make matters worse, Donald Trump has launched a barrage of nasty, personal attacks on me to boost his hand-picked candidate. Trump will do just about anything to replace me with another rubber stamp in Washington and his attacks are taking a toll.
It's a lot to juggle, which means I haven’t had a lot of time to keep track of our fundraising for this month and my team is telling me we’re struggling to close the gap on our missed goal. We can't give Republicans and their dark money groups any signs of weakness this close to Election Day.
