Today is National Mammography Day. This day is not only a reminder that early detection is one of our best defenses against breast cancer, but it’s also a call to action.
Breastcancer.org firmly believes in annual mammograms starting at age 40. Please don’t delay your appointment because of COVID-19. With safety precautions in place at doctor offices, you should continue with recommended screening options, including mammograms, as well as extra tests that might be needed, like: ultrasounds, MRIs, and clinical breast exams. When used in combination with regular clinical and breast self-exams, mammograms are still the best tool to find breast cancer early and treat it effectively with the
least aggressive therapies.
By postponing or canceling mammograms, some people risk having breast cancer diagnosed at a more advanced stage, which could make it more difficult to treat. Let’s all encourage each other to make sure that doesn’t happen. We care about you, your health, and your future. Breastcancer.org created this video as a mammogram reminder. Please share it with the people in your life today.
