DEMOCRATIC CHALLENGER FREELAND OUT-RAISES INCUMBENT LAMBORN 

Colorado Springs, Colorado - First-time candidate Jillian Freeland announced her best fundraising quarter of the election, out-raising seven term incumbent Doug Lamborn by $18,646.18; Freeland raised $94,731.18, while Lamborn raised $76,085.00

“My plan from day one has been to out-work the Congressman; I’ve spent the last nineteen months talking to the voters he ignores, fostering relationships with local and national leadership, and building momentum with the PEOPLE in the district.  Colorado’s Fifth District deserves a Representative who is driven to serve the people in the community with compassion, determination, and stamina, and I’m ready to work!  Congressman Lamborn has big PACs in his corner, but Team Freeland has people power!”- Freeland

Freeland raised 88% from individuals, with an average contribution of $67, while Lamborn’s fundraising relies on the support of PACs for 88% of his funds; his largest contributors include Koch Industries, the National Rifle Association, anti-choice groups, extraction industries, defense contractors, and big banks. 

“These fundraising numbers clearly demonstrate how much influence big business and interest groups exert in our elections.  I am determined to reform elections to keep aspiring and elected legislators accountable only to the people of their district.  I will fight to end the ability of interest groups to prop up ineffective and unreachable politicians like Doug Lamborn.” -Freeland
