John --
In the face of the senseless tragedy that struck on this day 18 years ago, Americans stepped up to serve. First responders worked to locate and aid victims with abandon. Tens of thousands of people in Washington volunteered to deploy overseas to protect our country and defend our democracy.
We must never forget the lives that were lost or the sacrifice of all who served in the wake of the attacks.
On this day, let us continue to think on our democracy and what values we wish to embody as a nation. Let them be the values of selflessness, bravery, and compassion in the face of hatred.
Thank you,
