The Actors Fund

Dear Actors Fund Friends,

The usual markers of fall celebrations aren’t what they’ve been in years past as we all struggle with the ongoing damages and obstacles of the pandemic. Our programs and services for those in need in the performing arts and entertainment community continue uninterrupted though, so please be sure to reach out if you or someone you know could use some assistance in the coming months.

While we can’t celebrate Halloween with a parade or trick-or-treating, we’re very excited for two upcoming events that keep the Halloween spooky spirt alive: our first ever virtual costume contest (for you and your pets!) with Halloween is NOT Cancelled, and a concert presentation years in the making: Tim Burton’s The Nightmare Before Christmas, produced by and starring Tony Award winner James Monroe Iglehart!

We hope you’ll join us from the safety and comfort of your own home for tricks, treats, music, costumes and so much more!

Join us online on October 28 for Halloween is NOT Cancelled, hosted by Freestyle Love Supreme co-creator Anthony Veneziale with a special appearance by Elvira, Mistress of the Dark! This live stream event will celebrate all the things we love about Halloween: costumes, make-up and spooky treats, as well as tricks, treats and surprise guests!

The evening will include appearances by American Idol’s Diana DeGarmo and Ace Young, Tony Award-winning costume designer Linda Cho (A Gentleman’s Guide to Love & Murder) and make-up artist and educator Eddie Duyos.

Leading up to the streaming event there will be an Instagram costume contest with two divisions: people over the age of 18 and pets. To enter, post a picture of yourself or your pet in costume using #notcancelledcostumecontest or #notcancelledcostumecontestpet and tag our Instagram account: @theactorsfund. The top five posts in each category by October 19 will move on to donation voting on the Britesiders website. Britesiders voting ends October 27, and the top three costumes in each category who receive the most votes will then be featured on the October 28 streaming event and win a prize.
