John,
On September 11, 2001, thousands of Americans lost their lives at the
hands of evil terrorists who sought to destroy our Nation. Millions of
us watched in confusion and despair as death and devastation unfolded.
Time stood still.
Many of us still remember where we were and what we were doing on that
September morning, 18 years ago. And we will never forget the mixed
feelings of fear, sadness, and anger we all felt as we listened to the
news.
We vowed then that we would never forget the innocents who were
slaughtered; the children whose mother or father didn't come home for
dinner; the heroes who sacrificed their lives to save others.
The 246 passengers who never deplaned from their flights. The 2,606
people who never left work. The 343 firefighters who never finished
their shift. The 60 police officers who never ended their patrol. The
8 paramedics who never stopped saving lives.
Today, we honor their memories, we say a prayer for their loved ones,
and we vow once again to never forget.
In memory of the ones we lost,
