California, Oregon and Washington are burning in an unprecedented fire season, while Louisiana, Florida, Nova Scotia and Texas have been pummeled by a historic hurricane season. The climate crisis is here.

And banks like TD are pushing us ever closer towards catastrophe by financing fossil fuel projects like the tar sands, fracking and massively destructive pipelines.

But we have a way to stop TD from dumping billions into climate destroying companies.

In just three weeks, SumOfUs members will be filing a historic shareholder proposal at TD, calling for the bank to make real change to pulling the plug on Big Oil and stop funding the climate crisis. If we can file the proposals with a massive petition, the company is sure to pay closer attention.

Banks all over the world are starting to take action to reduce their impact on the climate by defunding coal, creating greenhouse gas reduction targets and committing to transitioning financing to greener, cleaner options.

But TD, and the rest of the Canadian banks, are lagging embarrassingly behind. Inside sources have told us that TD wants to make the change, but there isn’t the incentive.

That’s where you come in -- with a massive petition that catches the interest of the media we can ensure that top executives start taking real action on our progressive shareholder proposal.

SumOfUs has been pushing TD to step up on the climate for years. This year we filed a shareholder proposal asking the company to stop financing fossil fuel companies and it gained a historic 18% of the vote -- turning the heads of the top executives at the company.

We know if we take action, we can win against TD. Just this summer, 24 hours after we launched our petition calling on TD to divest from GeoGroup, the private prison corporation that is the architect for Trump’s child separation policy at the Mexico/US border, we won. And if we take action now, we can do it again.
