Hi John,

I'm Hannah Jeffrey, Nancy's communication director here in NY-01. I'm reaching out today to make sure you didn't miss Nancy's recent interview with Gizmodo-Earther, a news source entirely focused on our changing planet and the human effect on Earth, as well as her BIG AND FULL THROATED endorsement from Newsday.

Nancy gave a great interview to Gizmodo -- I'm always impressed by her thoughtfulness and commitment to the facts. In the article, "A Chemist Running on ‘I Believe in Science’ Wants to Take Down a Trump-Loving Republican on Long Island," Nancy talked about how she sees her future role in the 117th Congress.

Not only will she use her background as a scientist to make decisions based on data and reason, Nancy told Gizmodo-Earther that "what I would want to be is a resource for every member of Congress to make sure that Democrats and Republicans have access to the best information available.”

There's no doubt in my mind that we must elect leaders NOW who not only believe in science and trust the advice of experts, but are also willing to work together and be a resource for others along the way. In short, we need leaders like Nancy. You can read the full interview at the link below.

As Gizmodo-Earther noted, the wide appeal of science-based decision-making for voters across Suffolk County “speaks to the hellscape of modern America that Republicans have created." Long Island is home to 1600 miles of coastline that were hit hard by Hurricane Sandy -- and as Republicans like Zeldin continue to stick their heads in the sand when it comes to climate change, the sea level is rising and putting us all at risk.

Zeldin has a sweeping anti-science record, from voting against a carbon tax to supporting an amendment that would prevent our leaders from even considering the known impacts of a changing climate when writing new policies. And this year he's proven his allegiance to the president, promoting Trump's unproven claim that hydroxychloroquine would cure COVID-19, and even calling the president's failed coronavirus response "phenomenal" during his speech at the Republican National Convention.

We have never had an administration so hostile to science in our nation's history. This November, we can and must change that -- and the way we fight back is by electing scientists like Nancy. If elected, she'll be the first ever woman with a Ph.D. in science to serve in Congress.

But look, this is still one of the most competitive races in the country, and we’ve gotten some incredible hits in the news over the past few days -- including an endorsement from Newsday’s editorial board. Here’s a quote pulled from their endorsement:

“Nancy Goroff is the best prepared and most knowledgeable newcomer at any level of Long Island politics in years.”

We know, and this is based completely on the data, that Nancy can win when voters learn who she is and hear that, in Congress, she’ll analyze the facts and find solutions that benefit us all.

Today, I am asking you to pitch in to ensure every voter in NY-01 hears our pro-science message and knows the truth about Zeldin's anti-science record. With your donation now, you'll help me and Nancy's communication team get the word out in the final days.

Together we’ll replace a science-denier with a climate hawk.

Thanks so much,

Hannah
