The Award committee members were struck by Anita's steadfast commitment to remove barriers to voting, especially in historically disenfranchised communities. “It’s our right to vote in America,” she says. For the past four years, Anita has been one of the driving forces behind Souls to the Polls Milwaukee, a coalition of ministers, congregations, and other organizations dedicated to increasing access to the polls for Black citizens in Milwaukee.
