Dear John,

In October, we at the Coalition to Stop Gun Violence (CSGV) wear purple. We wear purple for Domestic Violence Awareness Month. We wear purple because we know that home is not a safe place for everyone -- especially when guns are involved.

We wear purple because state and federal laws still make it far too easy for abusers to get their hands on firearms. Join us in our fight to disarm domestic violence! [link removed]

Data shows that a woman is five times more likely to be murdered when her abuser has a gun, and nearly half of all women killed in the United States are murdered by a current or former intimate partner.

That is why our sister organization, the Educational Fund to Stop Gun Violence (Ed Fund), along with other partners, developed Disarm Domestic Violence (www.disarmdv.org) -- a tool for survivors, advocates, law enforcement, judges, and researchers to learn about state laws regarding guns and domestic violence. Our cutting-edge work saves lives and helps individuals get the information they need.

Now, we are asking for YOUR help! [link removed]

In recognition of Domestic Violence Awareness Month, please make a donation today to support our lifesaving work. Together, we can make gun violence rare and abnormal.

Thank you and stay safe,

Josh Horwitz
