We want to thank the nearly 200 Arise members who came to Montgomery for our annual meeting Saturday! It’s always great to see everyone and feel the energy in the room. And we hope you’re as excited as we are for the work we’ll be doing together to make Alabama better in the coming year. Our members capped off the day by choosing Alabama Arise’s issue priorities for 2020. The seven issues chosen were: - Tax reform (including untaxing groceries and ending the state’s federal income tax deduction)
- Adequate budgets for human services (including Medicaid expansion and investment in home visiting services for parents of young children)
- Voting rights
- Payday and title lending reform
- Criminal justice debt reform
- Death penalty reform
- Public transportation
