Dear John,
Judging too quickly – or without proper perspective – can lead you in the wrong direction, which is why Jesus told his followers to “stop judging by mere appearances, and make a right judgment” (John 7:24). Unfortunately, many of my friends – and yours – are missing this point.
Some of these friends share my faith and many of my beliefs about culture, values and politics, and yet they’ve vowed not to vote for a president who has done so much to uphold the law, protect life and defend religious freedom, because of his character issues.
On the surface, this may seem defensible, or even commendable, because they’re exercising their conscience. But go below the surface and it’s clearly a critical mistake with far-reaching consequences. It’s like throwing the baby out with the bath water!
Pro-life, pro-family Minnesotans have to understand what’s at stake. That’s why education is absolutely critical right now.
I have engaged a few of my friends on their choice, but we have to go much wider than what you or I can do within our own circles. We have to get the word out across the state about the stark differences between the candidates and their party platforms – especially in critical battleground districts.
That’s why I’m asking you to prayerfully consider the most generous gift you can afford right now. Time is running out to literally change the course of our nation’s history.

The fact is, while I’m very disappointed by some of President Trump’s personal conduct and behavior, he has made far more good decisions than bad, most significantly in selecting great judges for the Supreme Court and many lower courts, such as Judge Amy Coney Barrett.
On the other side, progressives have vowed to pack the Supreme Court with radicals to undermine the majority that conservatives have rightfully won through elections.
If progressives can’t win a majority on the Court, they will manufacture one … if they can.
Even worse, Joe Biden and Kamala Harris represent a worldview that wants abortion anytime, anywhere, for any reason, paid for by you and me. Leftist candidates across the country have stated time and time again that they are wholly committed to eliminating all restrictions that exist at the state level, all conscience protections for health care providers and all restrictions on government funding.
If all this comes to pass, will my friends say, “well at least we’re rid of Donald Trump’s character” and console themselves with the knowledge that they voted their conscience? No, I think they’ll curse their short-sightedness, and regret that they traded their rights away because they wanted more compassionate Tweets.
But that outcome is not inevitable. There’s still time. There’s still hope. But we must act now.
We have a plan to send personalized voter guides to targeted households in key battleground districts. These are our neighbors who share our values but don’t always vote. They are crucial to success in 2020. In the past we’ve seen a 20% increase in turnout among these voters when they receive a voter guide. We have identified 200,000 such households in Minnesota. In 2018 we mailed voter guides to over 64,000 of these households. We have to do better in 2020.
Imagine the impact of mobilizing 40,000 additional pro-life voters this November who might otherwise have stayed home!
That’s what’s at stake. Our ability to reach those 200,000 households depends on this appeal. It’s as simple as that.
