As some of us enter into (or continue with!) a period of increased restrictions we're aware of the impact that this is going to have on everyone across the country - and in particular on women.
From those on the front line to those taking on more responsibility at home, and for those suffering from the economic consequences and the increased risk of unemployment, we will be continuing our work discussing the pandemic's impact and what needs to be done to ensure women are not left behind as a result.
Can you help us move closer to achieving the Right to Know?
In less than a week we will have the opportunity to tackle the gender pay gap and demonstrate support for the Right to Know in the form of the Equal Pay Implementation and Claims (EPIC) Bill - created by Fawcett to prevent the culture of pay secrecy that allows pay discrimination to prosper. The Bill will be going to the Commons for a vote on the 20th October.
We're trying to get as many MPs in support as possible - so we're asking you to write to your MP and ask them to give it their support. We've created a great tool which lets you tell your MP exactly what you need to get their support - and it will only take you 2 minutes!
Last chance to apply to be our new Chief Executive
If you're looking for a new challenge and want to join the fight for gender equality, this week is your last chance to apply to be our new Chief Executive. After five fantastic years at the helm, our Chief Executive Sam will be stepping down in December. You'd need to be an established leader with a strong understanding of gender equality and the drive and energy to lead a small but busy team. Closing date is tomorrow - Friday 16 October - please direct all inquiries to Prospectus.
We joined forces with the Global Institute for Women’s Leadership at King’s College London, Latham & Watkins, Castrén & Snellman, BBA Fjeldco, and Thomson Reuters Foundation to create the report. In not requiring employers to publish details on how they will deal with their gender pay gap, the UK differs from most nations in the study. Similarly, most other nations have a lower reporting threshold than the UK - which only requires those organisations with 250+ employees to publish this data.
What Christmas toys would you recommend to help tackle gender stereotypes? We're working with Let Toys Be Toys to create a Christmas list designed to support parents in challenging gender stereotypes that so often infiltrate the early stages of growth.
