Friend — we just got some tough polling news. Senator Gary Peters, an environmental champion, is at risk of losing his seat to a Trump-backed opponent in Michigan — the polls are much tighter than they should be. And in Iowa, environmental challenger Theresa Greenfield is barely holding onto a lead ahead of Senator Joni Ernst.
Both races are key to an environmental majority in the Senate — these are must-win races, and ballots have already gone out to voters in both states.
Our research is showing that environmental voters will decide the outcome in these races, but it's going to come down to turnout. We're trying to raise $20,000 by the end of the day tomorrow to help turn these races around.
A group of donors has even put together a triple match pool — but as things stand, we're coming up short.

It's not just Iowa and Michigan. We're seeing tight polls in Arizona, Maine, North Carolina, South Carolina, and Montana too. These are all states where a smart investment could really swing things — the problem is, if we can't scale up in Michigan or Iowa without pulling budget from another race. We really can't do that.
But Iowa and Michigan are key right now — for the Senate, and for the presidency, where polls are also within the margin of error. Every environmental voter we turn out in these states has a serious impact at both levels.
First term Senator Gary Peters is the type of environmental champion we need in the Senate right now. He's from Michigan — traditionally a swing state — and has a 93 percent lifetime score from LCV's
National Environmental Scorecard. If we are ever going to pass comprehensive climate and environmental justice legislation, we must send him back to the Senate.
A loss in Michigan would mean losing a shot at the majority. Donate to LCV Victory Fund to help put Gary Peters over the finish line — even $3 can make a difference »
In Iowa, Theresa Greenfield is running a very competitive race against incumbent Joni Ernst. Polling continually shows the race neck and neck. With the race so tight and Ernst an egregious climate denier, LCV Victory Fund is expanding its efforts in the state to help put Theresa Greenfield over the top.
This is a race we can win, but we need you in this fight. Please, donate to LCV Victory Fund and help us elect Theresa Greenfield to the US Senate »
The pandemic has upended every traditional method of reaching voters, but LCV Victory Fund is staying on the cutting edge of mobilization efforts. We're running a massive vote-by-mail operation, getting tens of thousands of calls to environmental voters completed, and running peer-to-peer text operations.
This is the largest electoral operation in LCV Victory Fund history, but with a desperate President Trump and allies in the Senate clinging to the seats, we know they will fight tooth-and-nail until Election Day and beyond. Republicans are dumping millions of dollars into Michigan, Iowa and battleground states across the county — all in a desperate attempt to shore up their candidates in these final few weeks.
Let's be clear — if we fail to win the Senate, it will be very difficult to get real, meaningful action on climate change. All while the West continues to burn from out of control wildfires, one of the worst hurricane seasons in decades, and historic flooding in the Midwest. Now is the time for action and a Senate with a climate and environmental majority will take action on climate.
Friend, we've never been in a fight like this and these last few weeks will take every resource we have to protect seats like Gary Peters and put candidates like Theresa Greenfield over the top.
Time is short. We're fighting every day and we need you with us.
Please, please, please make a contribution to LCV Victory Fund today. Every donation will be triple matched »
