Team Information
The Short Breaks Service operates citywide and provides both planned and unplanned short breaks for disabled children and young people in order to promote growth, development and inclusion, as well as providing support for families and carers.?

Team members work with a wide range of colleagues both internally and externally, to ensure the Local Authority meets its statutory duties under the Children?s Act, as well as maintaining and forging business relationships with commissioning groups and other relevant stakeholders.

Job Purpose?
The Short Breaks Team Manager manages a diverse service area, being responsible for all community and family short breaks which includes two registered services. These include: Short Breaks Fostering, which is a home based fostering service and includes a contract carer scheme; the community based linking and sitting scheme which promotes community based integration through a register of employed and casual workers; which is registered with CQC, and oversight of the home care and befriending and social group frameworks.?

The post holder will co-ordinate, plan, develop, and implement services in compliance with? fostering legislation, CQC and OFSTED registration requirements, departmental policies and procedures and within a framework of the National Standards, relevant legislation, Governmental performance indicators and the City Council?s strategic aims and objectives.

This role requires not only a SW qualification and SW England registration, but also significant experience of working in a statutory role with disabled children, young people and their families, as well as foster carers and other Short Breaks services.

This is a challenging and fast paced role, which is ideally suited to someone looking for the next step in their Children?s Social Work career, with a focus on community engagement and improved outcomes for children and young people.

Essential Requirements
  1. CQSW / CSS / Dip SW, Degree Qualification and Social Work England Registration;

  4. To have strong organizational skills and the ability to co-ordinate the prompt delivery and effective development of the services;
  5. Ability to manage quality, performance, discipline, supervision, complaints and grievances.
