Dear John,

Even though many Social Security beneficiaries will continue to struggle to pay for basic necessities under next year's tiny 1.3% Cost-of-Living Adjustment (COLA), which was just announced yesterday, millionaires and their political friends in Congress want working Americans to pay more, work longer and get less … while they continue to get bigger and bigger tax breaks and retire on fatter and fatter million-dollar pensions.

And one of the oldest, largest and most effective advocacy groups in the United States solely devoted to stopping this assault on Social Security … your benefits … and YOU … is the National Committee to Preserve Social Security and Medicare.

As you know, compared to these powerful interests, we are both small and underfunded. And yet year after year we win. Not every time. Not every battle. But we've won the most important ones. And that is because of the loyal support of our members and supporters, like you, who are willing to pull together and take on the millionaires, billionaires and corporate interests and politicians who simply want to squeeze the little guy so they can continue to feather their nests and protect their fortunes.

That is why, as millions of older Americans struggle to afford rising grocery prices, housing expenses and prescription drug costs, the National Committee is waging a battle in Congress for legislation that would give seniors a fair and adequate Social Security COLA that helps cover these rising expenses year over year.

John, as you know, our work is 100% supported by retirees and working Americans like you, all across the country — so please give what you can today which will go toward supporting the National Committee's urgent media, advocacy and grassroots fight to pass legislation that will give seniors the COLA raise they deserve!

Sincerely,

Max Richtman
President & CEO
