My name is Victoria Hsieh and I'm one of the WCV summer interns. I was raised in Bellevue and currently attend high school there. I spend my summers running or hiking with friends. This all changed two summers ago when the smog from the wildfires clouded the clear blue sky and lowered air quality, and I suddenly realized that clean air can’t be taken for granted.

I joined WCV as an intern because I want a sustainable future - one where everyone, regardless of race or income, has access to clean streams and healthy food sources. Together, we can stand up and fight against environmental injustice!

For about a year now, youth around the world have led the way by walking out of class and demanding accountability from our elected officials to take bold action on climate. Now, we’re calling on people of all ages to join us in the streets on September 20, three days before the UN Climate Summit in New York. Millions of us will take to the streets across the country and the world to demand a right to a future, and we’re inviting you to #strikewithus.

I am part of the team of youth organizing the Kirkland strike. Use this map to find a Youth Climate Strike near you to attend on September 20 [[link removed]]. If you don’t see an event in your area, there are resources to help you organize one! Whether you’re 7 or 77, you’re invited to join the movement to demand real solutions to the climate crisis. There’s no denying the climate crisis is already here. Over the years, we’ve watched storms, floods, fires, and heat waves devastate communities from Puerto Rico to right here in Washington. We know we have to take bold action now to move forward for a more just and equitable world.

Together, we have the power to take a stand for climate, jobs, and justice for my generation and beyond.
