In just a minute, I’m going to ask you to make a contribution towards my campaign for U.S. Senate, but first, I hope you will give me a chance to explain why this request is so important, especially right now.

At midnight, we will close our books on our fundraising numbers from the past two weeks, compile a report, and send it over to the Federal Election Commission. Then, our report will be made publicly available for all to see — an important measure to ensure candidates are accountable and transparent with their finances.

You know, this all may seem like just another deadline, but I’m really proud of our FEC report and what it says about our campaign — not just how much we’ve raised, but more importantly, how many people are with us. And let me be clear, not a dime on that report comes from corporate PACs or shady special interests.

But to be honest, there is something a little nerve wracking about tonight’s deadline. This is the final time our numbers will be made public before Election Day and unfortunately, we are behind on our goal.

If we come up short, Republicans may think this seat is up for grabs and the right-wing attacks could start raining in on our campaign. That’s why tonight’s deadline is truly the most critical of our campaign thus far.

So, if you can, will you chip in before midnight to help us catch up on our grassroots fundraising goal and report the strongest numbers possible to the FEC? Anything you can chip in means the world to me.
