I know that many of you think that Texas is a "conservative" state. That's wrong.

In 2018, Beto O'Rourke came within three points of defeating Ted Cruz for the U.S. Senate, and polls there right now show Joe Biden within striking distance of Trump. In fact, with increasing confidence, the Biden campaign is investing millions of dollars in Texas to win that state.

More than any other state in the country, Texas has the potential to transform American politics — short-term and long-term. Short-term, if Biden wins Texas's 38 electoral votes, the presidential election is essentially over. There is almost no way for Trump to win re-election without Texas.

Long-term, despite a huge amount of outrageous voter suppression pushed by the Republican state government, which has resulted in very low voter turnouts, the state is becoming bluer and bluer.

The very good news now is that there are a number of grassroots organizations that are working hard and are successfully increasing voter turnout. Since 2016, Texas has added 1.5 million voters to the registration rolls, which is nearly two times Trump’s 2016 margin of victory of 800,000 votes. With that kind of increased voter participation it is very possible that Texas, over the next few years, will become one of the most progressive states in the country.

Further, right now, Texas can play a key role in making the U.S. Congress much more progressive. That is why today I am asking you to support three very strong congressional candidates in Texas, each of whom has an excellent chance of winning. These candidates are the future of our movement, which is why it is so important that we come together to support their campaigns.

Can you split a contribution between Julie Oliver, Donna Imam, Mike Siegel, and our campaign today? We must elect a Congress that stands with working people, not the corporate elite. And that's what Julie, Donna and Mike will do.

Here is a bit of background information on Donna, Mike and Julie.

Donna Imam (TX-31) understands that our political and economic systems are rigged to benefit the wealthy at the expense of everyone else. She is an engineer who is running on a platform of health care for all, education for all, and immigration reform with a pathway to citizenship.

Mike Siegel (TX-10) is a civil rights attorney and former public school teacher who is running a people-powered campaign and rejecting corporate PAC money. As a city attorney in Austin, he has fought on behalf of immigrant families and low-income renters. Now he's ready to represent our movement in Congress.

Julie Oliver (TX-25) worked for 15 years in the health care finance world and saw firsthand how health care companies prioritize their bottom line over people. She understands that we need a Medicare for All, single-payer program and will also fight to overhaul our corrupt campaign finance system.

If we can have the kind of voter turnout in Texas that we need, not only will Biden win Texas, we will also elect progressive candidates up and down the ballot. And if we do that, the future of American politics will be significantly changed by what happens in Texas.

Julie, Donna, and Mike are three great Texas candidates who all have an excellent chance to win their elections. But only if they have strong grassroots support.

That is why I am asking you directly:

Can you contribute to Julie Oliver, Donna Imam, Mike Siegel and our campaign today to send these three progressives to Congress and support my work organizing our movement in the fight against Trump? This is important.

If we can mobilize our movement in Texas, we are going to transform American politics. That is why your contribution is so important. Thank you for making one today to support these excellent candidates.

In solidarity,
