Dear Friend,
As part of the Arab American Institute’s mission to cultivate the
next generation of Arab American leaders, AAI launched a mentorship
program that assists young professionals in navigating career and
education choices. The program pairs accomplished Arab American
professionals with outstanding participants in the Arab American
Generations program (formerly the Emerging Leaders Program). In its
first round of matches, AAI brought together individuals from various
fields including foreign policy, academia, business, and the
sciences.
By participating in this Arab American professionals’ mentorship
program, mentors
and mentees
are committed to carrying out the following activities to the best of
their abilities:
- Be invested in your mentee/mentor professional development and
passions;

Connect meaningfully via phone or in-person at least once
a month;
- Be responsive to emails and phone calls from your
mentee/mentor;
- Be purposeful in setting out professional goals and specific
strategies for success;
- Be willing to extend networking and other professional development
opportunities;
- Complete a memorandum of understanding with your
mentee/mentor that outlines both of your commitment to the
program;
- Be in immediate communication with AAI staff if your availability
changes or if a problem arises with your program partner.

AAI is committed to pairing mentors and mentees that have similar
fields of expertise and interest if, and when, possible.
