Slate magazine has reported on a terrifying potential outcome in the 2020 race: that Trump loses just enough ground to Joe Biden that the election ends in a 269-269 electoral vote tie.
Why would that be a disaster? Well, per Slate, it would “toss the decision to the House of Representatives” -- the very House of Representatives where Republicans control the majority of state delegations, meaning they could choose to give Trump another four years in power even if he both loses the popular vote and fails to gain 270 votes in the electoral college.
In Slate’s own words: “We would say this is an unlikely result, but it’s 2020 and there’s no chance in Hell we’re tempting fate like that.” We agree. The only way to stop Trump and the GOP is by ensuring Trump loses in a LANDSLIDE -- but right now, FiveThirtyEight says a close race is much more likely.
That’s bad: close means more ways for Trump to steal the election. The House of Representatives has already decided two elections in the past, and we’d hate for this to be the third. The only way to surge to landslide numbers from this dangerous tie territory is a late-game jolt of Democratic enthusiasm -- and for that, we need every single supporter on the same page. Tell us now if you’re part of the blue wave we’ll need to wash this president out for good:
